I am looking to get the quill converted to R8 from the Gorton taper, a company called Wells Index in Muskegon does the job for about $200 or so, but I may try over here in the UK first.

Nov 21, 2003 Sitting under a tarp in the back of a decrepit old horse barn, is a Gorton vertical mill, dusty, and covered in greasy kitty litter, but overall in pretty fair shape. X-axis screw is bent at the bearing housing, and Y-axis is tweaked too. Nothing that I cant repair. So, now I am the very proud owner of a Gorton model 8 D vertical mill.
